Silent Chain

Silent chains are utilised in timing / cam drive application in automotive engines for reduced noise and vibration. The reduced noise and vibration is due to the lower engagement angle and conjunctive type of link engagement with the sprocket, when comparing bush and roller chain.

The applications of silent chain not only limited to cam and timing drives, but also extensively used in front wheel power transmission in four-wheel drives.

LGB silent chain links are unique in design for the improved noise characteristics and a good load sharing between the link plates.

The Silent Chain Advantage

The silent chain drives combine the flexibility, quietness of the belt and the positive drive, durability of the gears
When the chain pitch elongates, the link plates move out ward and engages the sprocket on a correspondingly larger pitch circle. The load is therefore evenly distributed over the sprocket teeth engaging the chain.
